While visiting Port Townsend be sure to stop by The Rothschild House Museum. Built by Horace Tucker in 1868 for the Rothschild family, the house is virtually unchanged from a hundred years ago. The 2008 Spring exhibit features Ball Gowns and Fancy Frocks. The house is at the corner of Jefferson and Taylor, ONE BLOCK EAST (downhill) of St. Paul's Parish Hall. Admission is $4.00 or free with a Festival Pass or a current Jefferson County Historical Society Membership Card.

As a counter part to the respectable houses, customs and fashions of the Uptown residents, The Downtown Jefferson Historical Society Museum at 540 Water Street will be featuring an exhibit in the historic jail about "Prostitution in Early Port Townsend". A rough and bawdy town in Victorian times, Downtown Port Townsend was sometimes described as "the last way-station on the road to perdition". The Museum is open daily from 10:00AM - 4:00PM. Admission is $4.00 or free with a Festival Pass or a current Jefferson County Historical Society Membership Card.
